It’s been a while since I’ve shared a deeper cuts list. It’s also been way too long since I’ve shared a starter list (look for a return to these over the next week, too).
While I love to listen to the latest, greatest, and most indie-licious new releases. I’m a big fan of meandering through music past as I continue to add to my ever evolving and growing eclectic playlist.
At 53-years young, I still find new listens when I look backward, and I don’t feel like I’m doing my “job” as an avid music seeker and sharer if I don’t pass along some lesser known listens.
Deeper Cuts? Simon & Garfunkel?
Yeah, yeah. They’re a household name. And most music lovers can easily share a favorite S&G song. And even their least-streamed tracks have millions-upon-millions of listens and streams. But, if their hits have garnered 300-600 million listens, there are plenty of tracks sitting well under the 25 million stream mark. Bear with me, I’m getting to the gist of this argument.
I’d bet (gut feeling) that a lot of those streams on the lesser known tracks are from deep listening long-time fans like me (I used to harmonize with the little sister and S&G during our lengthy drives to high school back in the mid-late eighties). Meaning? There may be a decent-sized audience of younger listeners who have heard the hits, but may not know the deeper cuts that do exist!
