Friday Fifteen: March 15, 2024
Listening to my fifteen favorite additions to my liked list ...
Hello and happy day! It’s Friday. It felt like it might never arrive. But we made it.
It’s been another long week, made much better and more musical with fantastic shares and discussions on Threads. If you haven’t already found the Music Community on threads, I highly recommend it. The best hashtags for finding your people are: #MusicThreads, #AlbumADay, and #TenRandom Li.stens. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
And now, on to the listening!
This Friday’s Fifteen
This week was full of new to me and reminder listens. The new to me listens aren’t necessarily new releases. They’re found treasures based on shares, discussion, and interaction with my music loving community. They span genres and decades.
I’ve found that my particular search for new music looks back as often as it looks forward. Some of the artists that didn’t make the Friday Fifteen, but were added to my liked list include Hank Williams, Dion, Live, The Weakerthans, Wavves, and more. Now, these artists already had songs within my greater liked list. But I did some digging for deeper cuts and new to me gems, as well as forgotten favorites.
This Week’s Standouts
“Hello Hallelujah” by Blitzen Trapper
“Hurt” by Timi Yuro
“Cheeky Bastard” by The Scratch (showcased in this week’s Two For Tuesday)
“Mayday Mayday” by The Clockworks (another Two For Tuesday showcase)
“Manion” by The Courtneys
“Negation” by Live

There you have it. Another week of music search and discovery encapsulated in a fifteen song playlist. Did anything catch your ear? Will you dig deeper into any discographies this weekend? Hope you have the most relaxing and restorative weekend possible!
Awesome to see The Courtneys here! Their second album was my #2 album of 2017 - original review here: https://anearful.blogspot.com/2017/05/record-roundup-rock-on-and-on.html. I still hold a torch for them and hope they come back...
Ooh! Spencer Thomas is a new name to me and I love that track! It has a feel of Elvis Costello about it. One of your playlists recently prompted me to revisit the John Wesley Harding album “Here Comes The Groom”, beloved of my youth, and that also has a similar sound. Very much enjoyed The Scratch too - hints of Fontaines DC maybe but quite different to anything else I’m listening to right now. Definitely need to check out your Tuesday playlist which I’ve not had time for yet.
