Friday Fifteen: November 1, 2024
Fifteen of the songs I've added to my eclectic playlist this week ...
How was your Halloween? Full of tricks? Or treats? Bit of both? We bought candy and had no trick or treaters. I don’t know why we buy candy year after year. Our neighborhood is wonderful, but there are no sidewalks, and it’s dark. Plus, the many oaks in the neighborhood make walking treacherous between October and December. So trick or treating isn’t a great idea.
Maybe we wanted the candy for ourselves! I got a combo bag of M&Ms. Plain we share. Peanut for Derek. Peanut butter for me!
But you’re not here for that, are you? Nope. You’re here for some music listening and discovery. So let’s get to it!
Friday Finds: Fifteen Songs
Though it’s been a few weeks, I generally share fifteen new additions to my ever growing and always eclectic playlist. And I’m making a return to form this first day of November.
This week’s playlist hops across genres and decades. I think that makes for the best playlists. How about you.
We’ve got some yé-yé to launch the listening, thanks to the always awesome and interesting
. Don’t hesitate to check out this fantastic read:We’ve also got a cover, some new wave eighties goodness, a new band launched after the demise of a favorite (Teleman), and, of course, we’ve got something from the latest release of one of my many beloved Scottish indie bands. I’m going to let you guess which song/artist that’s referencing! Plus plenty of new and new to me listens gathered and catalogued during this week’s listening.
The Five Faves This Week
And, on Fridays, I also tend to share the five or six standouts from that week’s fifteen shared songs. Don’t want to mess with what’s worked in the past, now do I?
“Laisse tomber les filles” by Fabienne DelSol
“A Praise Chorus” by Martha
“Hounds” by Superdime
“So Delicate” by New Year Memorial
“Prom Zombie” by stellastarr*
The Playlist
Another Friday, another fifteen songs shared. Any keepers? Any additions to your own eclectic, genre-hopping playlists? Let a gal know. It keeps me primed and on the lookout for more for both your ears and mine!
thanks for the shout!
Really enjoyed Daffodils and Love. Not a song or an artist I’d come across before. The Japandroids and Pom Pom Squad tracks included here are my picks from those two albums. Love them both.
