Hello. Happy Friday. Hopefully your week went well. Mine was busy. Let me share something, looking for a new job that’s a great culture and experience fit is a FULL TIME JOB. It’s a slog, but I’m not applying out of desperation. I’m seeking my next lengthy work stay.
Back to music. That’s why you’re here after all! It’s Friday. A sweltering Friday in Atlanta, in August. But despite the heat and humidity, the listening continues. On Fridays I share the some of the latest additions to my ever growing, evolving, and increasingly eclectic Liked Songs playlist.
This week I looked backward as much as forward. I like those weeks best, I think. I love unearthing past favorites I’ve forgotten briefly (or for years) as much as I love stumbling across something brand new.
The Latest Additions
I just finished re-watching Gilmore Girls. The original series and the four episode follow-up. One thing watchers and repeat watchers of the show will share with you? Music is a big part of the show. Whether discussed by Lorelai, Rory, Lane, Jess, Zack, Brian, or Gil or as part of the soundtrack, you don’t miss the importance of music. So there are a few “I can’t believe I haven’t already added this song” additions this week, including “Time” by Tom Waits.
I also go down many cover song rabbit holes prepping for my Monday Multiple Versions publishes. This week that discovery took me deep into 50s and 60s country. SCORE!
But there’s some new and new to me additions, too. Hopefully I’ll hit a balance that shares at least one new listen you’ll love!
This Week’s Standouts
“Dark Matters” by Wrest
“The Last Thing On My Mind” by Porter Wagoner & Dolly Parton
“it’s alright” by InBetween Honey
“A Woman Half My Age” by Kitty Wells
“Ashville Junction” by Hoyt Axton
“Is What It Is” by CARSICK

Another week, another fifteen songs that were the standouts of my listening week. How did this week treat you? Any standouts? Did you make any additions to your own playlist(s)? You know what to do. Drop me a comment. I love hearing from you!
Great playlist, Mallie! So many good tracks here. I did a double take when the intro to Drive came on. I actually really like Eddie Vedder’s cover.
