It’s Friday. The final Friday in August. The summer has flown by. And while I’m ready for cooler temperatures (it’s supposed to drop more than ten degrees next week), I’m not ready for the rush to the holidays (even though I absolutely adore Christmas). Whoops, I used the “C” word. Someone’s going to come at me! LOL.
This Friday my focus is on all 2024 releases, which is not the norm, but we’re going to go with it!
This Friday’s Fifteen
Let’s dive into the fifteen listens. We’ve got a nice mix of male and female vocals, we’ve got a bit of pop, rock, post-punk, and singer/songwriter vibes. We’ve got chants, chanteuses, and call outs. There’s anger, angst, and tons of awesomeness.
This week’s standouts include:
“Grey Hyundai” by Four Story Fall
“Waste My Wishes” by Sophie Truax
“KNEES” by Polamine
“Why Don’t You Come Out Tonight” by Chime School
“Gobsmacked” by Hundred Plus Club
“Election Song” by Rose Alaimo
But, honestly, the entire playlist is powered by gems.

And there you go. Fifteen new listens on a Friday. What made your ears perk up? Did you make any additions to your own playlists? Let me know what made the cut. Drop me a comment and let’s keep listening to new music together!
Thanks, MH. You always suggest fab new tunes. Have a grand weekend.
Still haven’t got round to listening to Chime School despite all the rave reviews. This track gives major REM vibes.
So surprised to read Dubinski are an Edinburgh band. I was convinced they were from Manchester. The lead vocals at the start sound so much like Liam Fray from Courteeners.
Also really enjoyed Just Like You, Naive is a Cruel Word, and Election Song. Fab selection.
