New To My Liked List: January 26, 2024
Another look at the eclectic genres and eras of the music I love!
We did it. We made it. It’s Friday. Hooray!
And that means it’s time to rundown fifteen of the songs I’ve added to my Spotify Liked Songs playlist over the last week.
But first, a bit of news …
Trying Out Tidal
It’s my goal to make my playlists available to as many listeners as possible. It’s why I ponied up for an Apple Music subscription. And it’s why I’m giving Tidal a trial run. While the music quality may be a bit better, it may not be enough for me to sign up for a long-term subscription.
While several Tidal enthusiasts tout the greater selection of songs, I’m not finding that true with a love of music as eclectic and decade-hopping as mine. Many songs that are staples on my Spotify, and even Apple Music playlists, just aren’t to be found on Tidal.
I’m not giving up hope. I plan to do some intensive searching and listening over the several weeks leading up to the trial end.
Publishing Schedule
I’m still plotting and planning, but the goal now is to publish four free articles each week and two for my paying subscribers. I also plan to continue switching between themed posts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We’ll see how it goes.
And, FINALLY, The New Songs For The Week!
It’s a a fun list this week, bouncing between decades and genres. I liked every song enough to add it to my liked list, but my standouts this week are:
”Hold On Tight” - Hard-Ons
”Beechwood 4-5789” - The Marvelettes
”Shaken” - LP
”The Words I Want To Write” - Waiting Til Three
”Unbearable” - The Wonder Stuff
Time To Listen …

Well? What did you think? Any standouts? Any snubs (be nice about it, pretty please). Did you make any additions to your own liked lists?
"My number is Beechwood 4-5789/You can call me up and have a date/any old time."
Nothing like classic Motown.
Yay, The Wonder Stuff! In 1993, I was living in London and working in a pub. I was introduced to The Eight-Legged Groove Machine in the pub and loved it. I spent many nights listening to that album on an old TDK while cleaning ashtrays and pint glasses once the last regular left. It's nice to see them getting some love on here. :)
