Good morning and happy Thursday (if it happens to be Thursday morning wherever you’re reading this). My Thursday theme is Threepeat Thursday, and that’s what I’ve got in store for you today.
Last weekend I put a call to musicians and bands, and they answered! I had over one hundred responses and I’ve listened to a lot of fantastic, new to me, music. Today I’d like to shine the spotlight on three talented artists who really caught my ear!
The three artists I’m sharing are all new, or new-ish, to me. So I can’t wax “too” rhapsodic. I can, and will, share how the music made me feel, then let you draw your own conclusions. Maybe you’ll make a few additions to your liked lists. Maybe you won’t.
First up, we’ve got Amanda McCarthy. I first stumbled across her wonderful rock/power pop take on “Up On The Housetop,” and loved it. So, when she asked me to check out some of her other work, it was a no-brainer. While the two other songs I added to the playlist are less poppy and peppy, they’re well crafted and showcase her lovely vocals. Let me know what you think, please.
The next three songs are, in three words: unique, quirky, and delightful. I don’t know if I can possibly compare Amy Hopwood to another artist, but if I tried I’d liken her to Shannon Wright or early Joanna Newsom. Quirky. Delightfully quirky. know I already used that descriptor, but I think you need to check out the three songs I’m sharing and choose your own!
Rounding out the playlist of three songs by three artists, is my lovely Threads friend, Dave Hulegaard, AKA Twelve Days In June. His new album, La Luna, dropped this week and it’s a combination of rollicking rock, hearkening the 90s with a spin, and lovely lyrical ballads that remind me of Evan Dando’s heyday. I can only share my three favorites here, but you should check out the album in its entirety.
Check out the playlist.
