If you’ve read and commented on my previous Multiple Version Monday posts and playlists, you know I like to genre and decade hop a bit. It keeps the series fun for me and, I hope, it keeps you on your toes, never knowing what to expect in the next installment.
That’s my hope anyway!
I’m never sure how the original and cover I’ve chosen will go over with you. But I’ve been pleased with the open-minded listens and responses.
A Little Folk Fun
I love folk music. I’m a huge fan of Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Phil Ochs. You also know I love, love, LOVE me some Judy Collins. I’m not as familiar with Woody Guthrie’s work, but I decided I need to remedy that.
Why would I choose this little ditty amongst the many more inspiring songs in his vast and varied discography? Why not? Why can’t we have a little fun and remember the joys of singing with our siblings on road trips.
That’s what this song evokes. And the powerhouses who covered it must have agreed.
The Playlist
Because this little gem is so short, and because I love the artists who covered the song, you get six versions, five covers and the original, to enjoy!
Did you enjoy this week’s selection? What say you? Let a gal know. You know your comments and breakdowns keep me searching for the next week’s installment!
Found you when you followed me on BSKY. For the past 2 years I've done a Friday Fave Cover edition the last Friday of each month on my substack. Forgot about the car car song....cheers
Fun. Thank you!
