We finished all of our Christmas travels and get-togethers with my sister and her family, as well as my father, this morning. It was a lovely series of Christmas hangouts over three days.
I got some new music. Several CDs. And a gift certificate to one of my favorite online used music retailers.
I’ve managed to keep up with my #TenRandomListens on Threads. But I haven’t done a ton of listening over the last several days.
That’s about to change!
I stumbled upon my Spotify “On Repeat” playlist. A delightful mish-mash of listens new and old, future and past. And it’s spurred me to hit my December 31 goal to have 10,000 songs available for random listening in my Spotify “Liked Songs” playlist. It currently sits at 5,814.
I’ll be going into deep-dive, down the rabbit hole mode, through all of my playlists. But I’m going to start the party with the On Repeat playlist. Featuring some of my favorite new listens, like Brigitte Calls Me Baby, Jason James, and Jailbox, along with old favorites like OMD, Wire, Hudson Bell, and The Undertones, it’s going to be a genre and decade hopping journey.
I can’t convert the playlist to Apple Music, so only my Spotify listening readers can access the playlist. What’s on your “On Repeat” compilation? What new music did you receive as Christmas, or other holiday, presents? What are you listening to as this year closes out?
Here’s to a 2024 full of new music, epic listens, #TenRandomListens lists, and more!
I went casting back to an old channel subscription on YouTube that I've used for discovery, and re-encountered the first time I heard Molchat Doma and their brilliant album "Etazhi".

Always a good time for Wire!
