Happy Sunday. Sorry this didn’t go out first thing this morning. As this is my first weekend in a month where I didn’t work, I’ve been resting and catching up on home projects. The bulk of the weekend has gone to decluttering and organizing my art studio. Did you know my husband and I are both artists? Now you do!
But less small talk, and more starter list!
The Lonely Forest
This is another band I stumbled upon while doing a deeper dive into another favorite. The other band was probably Seawolf. Either way, The Lonely Forest entered my listening zone and quickly became a favorite. Why? Well …
I love the atmospheric but energetic music. I like the drama of it, and the drive. But the big draw? John Van Deusen’s vocals. They fit within my coltivated band of angsty, emotional, almost overwraught singers. Think Jon Bunch, Scott Hutchison, Dan Boeckner, etc.
Sadly, the band only put out three full length albums. But it’s plenty to compile a list of ten songs to get you started. I finished the list with my absolute favorite, “I Don’t Want To Live There.” I hope you enjoy it all, but I really hope this one resonates with you!

What say you? Thumbs up? Taking a pass? Let me know. I’m always thrilled to share one of my favorite bands with you, so I hope you’ll be kind if they’re just not your cup of tea!
I like your comment, "John Van Deusen’s vocals. They fit within my cultivated band of angsty, emotional, almost overwrought singers." I've always referred to this as kind of a strangled sound. Anyway, just thought I'd share one of my favorites, Richard Manuel of the 70's-80's band, The Band. (Please forgive the video quality, but it's a chance for you to see Richard perform . . . and, it's all about the sound, anyway.") https://youtu.be/vKgmg2BFtow?si=j3-NotHWAnrzEdI5
