Starter List: The Vaccines
A starter list day keeps the doldrums away?
Hi there. It’s been, and will remain, a crazy, but productive week at work. So, it hasn’t left me a lot of free time to add to my liked list, or for a lot of dedicated listening. There’s been plenty of listening, of course. I work best with music as my background. It’s a bonus when you work in a creative field.
No matter how hectic the week, I’m dedicated to this blog/newsletter thing I have going on. It’s been a great way to reconnect with my past days as a music blogger and album reviewer. Thanks to all of you for reading, commenting, and more!
The Vaccines
Avid and active music listeners and seekers know you can miss out on something great from time to time. I was definitely late to the awesomeness that is the Vaccines.
What can I say that other listeners and enthusiasts haven’t already said? Not a whole lot, I’d guess. Their music is a lovely combo of dark wave, post punk, garage rock, power pop, and shoegaze vibes. Sometimes all in the same song. For me, though, their music is comforting, even when it’s heavier or faster. I can sit and reflect while I listen. It makes me think, it makes me nostalgic, it makes me feel. It stirs up memories.

God! I LOVE The Vaccines. I’m a big fan of all their albums and they are one of my favourite bands to see live. So glad to see Maybe (Luck of the Draw) in this playlist. I personally think it is one of their most underrated songs. I also love your picks from the latest singles (Can’t wait for the album this Friday). It’s a good list that has made me revisit a few songs I rarely listen to so thanks for that.
Other tracks I think really deserve a mention - and are essential listening imo - would be A Lack of Understanding, All in White, I Always Knew, Teenage Icon, Handsome, 20/20, Put It On A T-shirt, All of my Friends, Wanderlust, Paranormal Romance and Pink Water Pistols (also hugely underrated). There! That’s two eleven track lists 😂
