A Multiple Versions Monday kind of publish ...

Good morning and happy Monday, if a Monday can be happy. I suppose it can if your football teams fared well over the weekend. At least that’s how my husband would look at it!

It’s been a few weeks, but I’m back with what I hope will be a fun set of covers.

Let’s dive right in!

The Boss Gets Sinister

I’ve loved Springsteen’s “State Trooper” since I first heard it. It’s so simple, yet sinister at the same time. It’s a story song with a scary side. It’s a song I never skip. I knew there were a handful of covers I could check out for this theme, but I was surprised at how many.

I was also surprised at how many of my favorite cover versions were sung by female vocalists.

I should probably learn not to be surprised, but it’s nice that I can still get a boost when something somewhat unexpected comes.

The Playlist

I’ve had to step back on the number of subscriptions for the short term, ‘stackers. I’m launching a new company and I need those dollars to set up my tech stack. I’ll add Apple Music and Tidal back once the business is more established. For now, though, and I realize this may not work for all of you, I’ve got to stick to Spotify for my playlist shares.

Also, there are MANY versions I chose not to share in my roundup. They may be amongst your favorites. Versions by Steve Earle and Cowboy Junkies. All wonderful in their own way. But, I chose to share my five favorites. The ones that I choose to listen to on repeat.

I generally don’t share my favorites when I share these covers playlists, but this time I’m going to make an exception. I love the original, of course, and all of the versions I’ve shared here. But, there’s something about the Halloween, Alaska version that really grabs me. So, after the original, that’s my favorite!
