Happy Monday. Here’s hoping that February treats us all a bit better than her sister January did!
Mondays mean Multiple Versions playlists and I hope this week’s selection keeps you interested in the series.
The Tracks Of My Tears
The song was originally written and performed by The Miracles before their name changed to better reflect the talents of Smokey Robinson.
It was was a No. 2 hit on the Billboard R&B chart, and it reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. And it has been covered, often, by many different artists and bands.
That made it really difficult for me to keep the playlist to five or six versions. I decided not to limit myself this time because the covers are varied and showcase many different styles.
The Playlists
That’s this week’s Multiple Versions playlist. What’d you think? Were there any surprising versions? Or did it pan out pretty much like you guessed when you saw this week’s song selection. Let a gal know in the comments!
"But take a good look at my face/You'll see my smile is out of place..."
My God, Smokey could write lyrics...
I first heard this song on the Platoon soundtrack when I was 14 and it’s been one of my favourites ever since. Thanks for sharing these. Some great versions here - I love Dolly’s take on it - but I’m not sure you can beat Smokey Robinson’s vocals.
