On Thursdays? We threepeat!
Three songs, each, from three new, or more often, new to me, artists. This week I’m also featuring a NOT SO NEW to me band that deserves more recognition for their longevity and dedication to the music scene.
Almost Lovers
The playlist launches with three peppy pop-punk gems. There’s very little biographical information available, and the Lovers sit with a sad 200 monthly listens, far too low for such aural fun. With two EPs available for your listening pleasure, the goal is to get the listens up enough to benefit the band and bolster them to keep making music.
Sharks and Minnows
Not new, neither to me, nor to many of you who found me on Threads. These long-time indie rock stalwarts have been part of my playlists for some twenty years, ever since they sent me their second album for review. With a new album coming in 2024, I wanted to get these genuine and talented musicians in front of you once again. They’re classic without bowing to boredom or formula. They’re as relevant today as they were when I first listened to them.
The Belle Brigade
This band is a new to me, I’m late to the party, share. Yes, they showed up on a Twilight saga soundtrack, but they still evaded me until a recent deep dive listening session. With only two releases in their discography, I’d bet they’re less known than their die-hard fans would like to believe. It was “Sweet Louise” that grabbed my attention, and led me to keep listening. The vocals grab you and then the music bounces around until you’re toe tapping and totally invested.
