Threepeat Thursday: February 22, 2024

It's a louder and harder week and I hope you're here/hear for it!

I’m stuffed up and have a cough this morning. Please forgive any typos and/or misspellings. My headphones are over my ears, though, and music will drive me through the day, coughs and sneezes be damned!

It’s Thursday! Hooray! That means I’ve got three tunes from three different artists queued up for your listening pleasure.

Let’s dive right in, shall we?

Three Bands, Three Songs Each

There’s an unplanned theme to today’s three bands and songs. Perhaps I should have pretended it was planned. We’re going a bit heavier, a bit more alternative rock, with today’s selections. You’d be inclined to think I’d been on a Stabbing Westward, NIN, Filter, or Gravity Kills bender, but that’s not the case. It really is/was a happy accident.

We start off with Cuffed Up. The band name makes me chuckle each time I see it. I love the dual male and female vocals over the rocking vibe. Things slow down a bit with “Love Is…,” but the overall vibe is guitar-driven and rocking.

Next we slide into Superbloom. It’s moody, fuzzy, distorted, grungy rock goodness. It’s got a late ‘90s vibe for sure. Listen and let me know if you agree.

We round out this week’s list with Sick Joy. “Hypodermic Sunshine” grabs your attention with the title and DOES NOT disappoint. NSFW, so use your headphone!
