Good morning. This is going out later than my usual Thursday morning publishes, but I took the opportunity to be a lazy lump after more than a month of 70-80 hour work weeks. Deadlines met means lazy Mallie. At least for a day!
Because I’m lazy and lethargic, there will be less banter than usual. I hope you’ll forgive me this once.
Three Bands, Three Songs Each!
We’ve got a power pop/punk pop vibe going on with today’s compilations. Leading the list off is The Carolyn. This Atlanta trio delivers gritty vocals, pop punk energy, plus a little extra something. Listen carefully to “LBB” to see what I mean. Add in a Cranberries cover, and you’ll see why they made the list!
Next up, Cherym. The three-piece out of Derry compare their sound to Charly Bliss, Bikini Kill, and Pixies (when did we drop “the” on this one?!?!). The comparison to Charly Bliss is immediately obvious. It’ eathats peppy, punky pop with enough edge to keep it from being too sweet. “It’s Not Me It’s You,” is my favorite of the three.
We round out the list with a last minute addition. I’d planned to share three songs from cheerbleederz, but ended up adding those songs to yesterday’s playlist. So, I dug through my week’s worth of new finds and landed on Antarctigo Vespucci. I’m not new to Chris Farren, but this duo slipped under my radar. The self-deprecating emotion is the draw, especially on “I Drew You Once In Art Class.”

Oooh yeah, never heard of Cherym but these songs rule! Will have to dig into the EP and singles.
