Thursday. It’s Thursday. HOORAY. I’m off work, starting Saturday, May 25 through Monday, June 3. I don’t return to work until Tuesday, June 4. And I’m so excited.
But that means I’m in that frantic mode trying to get everything done and scheduled so I CAN take that time off. You know how it is. Going flat out so you’re forced to spend the first day of your time off recuperating, because you’re EXHAUSTED.
Anywho, that frantic prep and scheduling is why today’s Threepeat Thursday post is going out after lunch. I hope you’ll indulge me!
Three Artists, Three Songs Each
This week’s featured artists are all new-to-me, though I have no doubt they’re well known already by several of you.
I’m never susprised when I find out I’ve missed a band or artist that others have known about for years, or even decades. I mean, if you think about it, my vast and varied liked songs playlist spans from 1930-today. And it hops across A LOT of genres. Even an avid music seeker like myself can only do so much within those parameters.
I just consider myself lucky that I’ve finally found that band or artist who has long left an empty spot within that list.
This week I’ve stumbled across Kate Clover, who creates driving punk anthems based on her muses, Iggy Pop and Patti Smith. While she’s new-ish, the sound is not, and it’s a fitting addition to this playlist and my larger liked songs list. How did I find Kate? Recommendation from a note right here on Substack!
With my love for punk and power pop, you’d think I’d have stumbled across Bad Sports in the last fifteen years. But that’s not the case. In fact, I stumbled upon them yesterday, when they showed up on one of my Spotify Day Lists. I’ll definitely be diving a bit deeper into their discography. Beyond these three songs, of course.
This week’s playlist rounds out with Broadcast. Another artist I simply haven’t stumbled upon in the nearly thirty years since their debut. I KNOW! What was my introduction this time? A Threads post, showcasing their Tender Buttons album, released in 2005.

There you have it. Three artists. Three sounds. Three vibes. Which one’s your favorite? Did you already know about all three? Any surprises? I hope you’ll chime in with a comment. I love hearing from you!
Finally getting around to listening to this playlist and I’m so glad I did. All three of these are new to me and I really enjoyed them all. Particularly like Kate Clover. I will be giving her newest album some serious attention.
Heck yea Kate Clover is rockin' my living room! I'm totally buying this album. Channel Zero is the catchiest song about CIA psyops that's ever been written. Wait . . .maybe it is itself a psyop designed to make us more comfortable with the concept. ;)
Broadcast is really cool too - they're the only ones I was already familiar with. Ha Ha Sounds is another great album if you're into their thing. Your post said it's been "nearly thirty years since their debut" which can't be right since that came out the year I graduated college which would mean that I'm . . . ohhhh ;)
Bad Sports is gonna have to wait till after the Kate Clover
