Hi gang. I don’t have a ton of time to post today, but I’m determined to consistently post and share here.
I told you we took the dog to the dentist yesterday, and it’s as we expected. Several extractions scheduled in early March. What I wasn’t expecting was the doctor to marvel at the athleticism of my nearly fourteen year old dog. They were amazed at her energy, movement, and musculature. I guess we’re just used to her. She’s not slowed down a bit in all the years we’ve had her.
Let’s get to the music!
Three Artists, Three Songs Each
Today our triples are looking back. To the ‘80s, the ‘90s, and the ‘00s.
Crowded House tends to get more love, but I’ve always been more into Split Enz. I think the sound is peppier and poppier, and the pace is faster. And you just don’t hear as much love for this band as I believe they rightfully deserve. So they’re my choice for the ‘80s triplet.
Ahhhhhh, Hum! So many people know and enjoy “Stars.” But I included favorite tracks from the albums preceding and following You’d Prefer An Astronaut. They’re another band that I believe to be criminally underrated. They got lost in the sea of grunge when what they were putting out was so much more. Seriously, CRIMINAL.
And the third artist and set of three songs is? We Are The Physics. Scottish. Nerdy. Quirky. With rollicking yelping vocals and beautiful bass lines. I LOVED them. They only put out two albums which makes me so sad. But I just found out that three of the members put together a new band, Slime City. And I’m just as into it! Same-ish sound and experience.
The Playlists
I’ve gotta run, as I’ve got a ridiculously long to-do list today. But I hope you enjoyed the look back to three of my favorite artists from my music past. Let me know if you’re also a fan!
Love Split Enz!!
I had a couple Split Enz pop up in my YouTubes recently. Good stuff!
