Hi there. Happy Halloween.
Spooky and/or creepy and/or scary songs have been on my mind the last two weeks. In fact, I ran a Seven Days Of Spooky Songs challenge on Threads, and put together quite the playlist based on the songs shared. I’ll link it at the end of today’s post.
While my current favorite spooky song is “Blood Gets Thin” by Pete & The Pirates, my favorite spooky song creator is Eric Elbogen of Say Hi.
His songs are the focus of today’s post.
Say Hello To Say Hi!
Previously known as Say Hi To Your Mom, Say Hi is Eric Elbogen.
Elbogen records every album at home. He plays every instrument. He’s been doing this since 2002. He’s incredibly prolific.
There’s a spooky and/or creepy bent to many of his songs. And that’s what I’m here for today. But looking deeper, Elbogen focuses on real feelings, some petty, some much deeper and personal. He covers topics from wanting to break up with his gal because she beat his high score to a tense standoff with winter, in “November Was White, December Was Grey.”
But back to the spooky. Elbogen’s songs are often about vampires. There are also ghosts. Death by robot. Etc.
And there’s a general darkness and spookiness that comes from the music, the lyrics, and the vocal delivery.
What can I say? I’m a huge fan!
The Playlist
It seemed fitting to add 13 songs to this playlist. LOL.
Are you a fan? Have you heard of Say Hi and Eric Elbogen? What songs stood out on this spookiest of days? You know I love to hear from you. Drop a comment if you listen!
I’d not come across Say Hi before. From the first track I wasn’t sure it would be for me but I actually really enjoyed it. I think These Fangs and Blah Blah Blah might be my favourites.
I’ve liked some Say Hi songs before — These Fangs and Blah Blah Blah etc — but you introduced me to some more great ones!
Is your big spooky list accessible somewhere?
