Many Tuesdays I share songs submitted by artists and bands who interact with me on Threads, my main social media hangout for music discussion and curation.
This week I’m doing things differently. I’ve gathered two song each from several new additions to my ever growing and evolving Liked Songs list on Spotify.
My Liked Songs playlist currently holds 5,700 songs, exactly. That number isn’t particularly high for a music addict curator like myself. That’s because I’m currently streamlining three different streaming music catalogs while actively seeking out new music daily. I add between 50-250 songs each day. By the end of my week off, the week after Christmas, it should sit at about 15,000+.
That’s still not a particularly high number. But we’ll see how much growth and genre hopping I’ll have in store for you in 2024.
Two For Tuesday
I’ve got two playlists for you today. The first showcases two songs from a variety of new to me artists I’ve come across during some deep dive listening over the last week or so. It’s full of pop punk, folk, and harder driving indie rock, among other sub-genres that could take up several scrolls. Hope you like what you hear!

And now, a blast from my musical past …
From 2002-2006(ish), I ran an indie music review blog called South of Mainstream (this was LONG before the festival of the same name). Artists sent me CDs through the mail, as this was also long before the likes of Spotify or Apple Music, and I reviewed them.
I still listen to a lot of the music I reviewed today. I’ve got two songs each from five bands I reviewed and thoroughly enjoyed nearly twenty years ago. One of them, Sharks and Minnows, is still making music today and plan to drop an album in 2024.
I’d absolutely love to know if you came across any of these bands way back in the day. And if not, will you add any of these ten tunes to your own liked lists?

That’s it for this Tuesday. I hope it’s terrific and full of music and more! I’d love to hear from those reading. Pop in a comment if you’d like me to listen to one of your favorites!
I was going to say that Confidence Man is still playing/recording, but I’m thinking of the Australian dance music duo.
