It’s gross outside, rainy, windy and cold, so it’s hard to put a good in front of morning. But I’ll do my best to make it a good morning with ten possibly new to you tracks.
Let’s dive right in!
This Week’s Five Artists
There’s a softer vibe to this week’s selections, though there’s still plenty of emotion and tempo.
Waiting Til Three
The playlist launches with Waiting Til Three out of Colorado. I loved the sweet yet sinister sound of “Enough.” I love songs straddle the line between mild emotion and a darker, driving anger. Hope you enjoy!
Danon Hill
I love a storytelling song and that’s what you get here. Danon is German, working and making music in Berlin, and while that adds a subtle accent to the talk-singing portions of his songs, when you get to the choruses, you can’t detect it. I get an Arab Strap vibe, without the heavy Scottish accent, but there’s more melody and the choruses are melodic belters.
Kate Dineen
I mentioned Kate in yesterday’s meandering post. I think she’s going places. She’s got the vocal chops and her songs are honest and raw. I’d love to know what you think.
Patrick Hardy
His music entered my sphere via Threads (my current favorite social media platform). I was hooked the first time I heard “i don’t know why i’m trying so hard to stay here.” I love songs that transition from quiet interlude to belted out choruses, and Patrick delivers. I also love the electronic elements he’s woven in. I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with next.
Alex Ivy
We quiet down again with Alex Ivy. There’s not a lot of information on Spotify. The bio section states only “is a band.” “The Record” is the song that caught my attention. Again, we get sweet and soft that builds into a chorus full of emotion, distortion, and sludgy guitars. Something I absolutely love. I hope you find it appealing, too.
