Happy Tuesday, everyone! I’m hopeful most of you managed a full night’s sleep last night. I slept well for a chronic insomniac, so I’m raring and ready to go with this week’s playlist.
Would it shock you to learn that my family tree is firmly planted in Ireland and Poland, not Scotland? Despite my love of Scottish indie, I don’t have a drop of Scots blood. I really need to take the time to investigate Polish indie rock, but until I do so, you’ll have to settle for the Irish bands I’m showcasing today.
Two For Tuesday
We’ve got five fantastic artists on tap today. Let’s dive right in so you can get to the listening!
We launch today’s playlist with Galway’s The Clockwork. The writing is stellar with lines like:
Empathy's in entropy
And apathy is free
And I can't bear too much reality
Add the semi-spoken delivery to the pacey guitar and you’ve got some great listening ahead.
Next up we’ve got YANG. This trio out of Oakland has a unique sound and appeal. I love jangly and moody guitar mixed with angsty vocals. How about you?
We change pace with Anna Smyrk. Her vocals are gorgeous, and the song subjects are timely and real. This Australian songstress is going places and I can’t wait to follow along on her journey.
We head back to the States with Modern Chemistry. The New Jersey duo has an edgy electronic vibe. It’s new wave mixed with power pop with a dabble of darkness that I adore.
We round out the list with another group of Irish lads. I laughed out loud the first time I heard “Cheeky Bastard” by The Scratch. This Irish metal band combines the pace and power of metal with a traditional bent. I really hope you enjoy these two songs as much as I do!

I didn’t quite get this publish out by my preferred 7:30 - 8:30 AM (ET), but it’s going out before noon, so I’m calling that a win! Did anything catch your ear? Did you make any additions to your liked lists?
Finally getting around to listening to this! Totally worth the wait. Great listening experience all round but I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on Yang.
More good stuff, as usual. I especially liked The Scratch and Anna Smyrk. Added a couple tracks to my own likes!
I don't have a stack going yet, but I wanted to share a few things with you in return, so here's a little playlist with 5 bands/artists I'm digging: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2pxDlIRpJHdLMLWIMAU8ll?si=d0c1d36b0a3045bc
