We have to take my dog to the dentist today. As she’s a terrible car dog, it involves me sitting in the back seat with her in an attempt to keep her calm so the husband can deliver her to the doctor safely. It’s not a fun undertaking, and we’ll have to do it again when they schedule her tooth extraction, but it’s got to be done.
But you’re here for the music not the pet stories.
Let’s see what you think about some of this week’s additions to my Liked Songs playlist.
Ten New To Me Tracks
This week’s additions crossed a wide range of genres. We’ve got some emo-tinged power pop, shoegaze, indie folk/singer-songwriter vibes, mathy indie rock, and more.
There’s slow and seductively beautiful moments like “Sanctuary,” by Tamino and Mitsky, which gave me both Mark Kozelek and Thom Yorke vibes.
We’ve got a pretty killer cover courtesy of Summer Woods and her take on “Sober.” If you like this, check out the EP this track calls home.
I can’t help but here a MGMT influence on “Keep Your Light On” by Hugo Brijs. How about you?
And I was introduced to a band I feel like I should have known about for YEARS. They’re Scottish and they’re 3/4 of the former We Are The Physics, a band I absolutely adore. If you enjoy nerdy, tech-related indie rock, you will want to check out “Algorithm Is A Dancer,” by Slime City.
The Playlists
What’d you think? Any standout tracks that require a second, third, or tenth listen? Any new additions to your playlist?
Tomorrow I’m going to take a look backward with a Throwback Threepeat Thursday, so keep your eyes peeled if that’s your jam!
I also really like that Lord Huron/Kristen Stewart track. Great vibe and production!
That Lord Huron/Kim Stewart collab is great and totally unexpected.
