What's New (To Me) Wednesday
It's August 7, 2024 and I've been listening so I can share with you!
So, yeah. I already told you that I’ve been recently unjobbed. I’m okay. I promise.
I’ve been busy. Prepping several template versions of my resume, so it’s easier to edit them specifically for each role I apply for. Sprucing up my LinkedIn profile and doing a good bit of online networking.
Music, as always, is the soundtrack behind my daily tasks whether in front of the computer or behind a mop (I have a twenty-two year old cat, messes happen).
So, let’s see what I’ve been listening to, shall we?
Recent Listens
While I always seek out new music, recent releases, I also like to dig deeper into the discographies of bands I like, but don’t know their catalog back to front. So you’ll see a bit of both this week.
I’ve never been anything but pleased when listening to Iron & Wine, but, I admit I’ve never really done a deeper listen. Maybe I will after stumbling across his cover of American Football’s “Never Meant.”
Glossary is a new to me find, even though they had a long career. It’s surprising that I’ve never come across them before as I’m a fan of alt country music.
Plastic Tofu has a fun punky power pop sound that put a pep in my step when they showed up on one of my Spotify daylists.
Gilmore Girls introduced me to The Pernice Brothers, and I’ve heard “The Weakest Shade of Blue” many times, but I’d never added it to my Liked Songs list. I’ve fixed that glaring error this week!
New Junk City is also completely new to me this week. And color me thrilled that their catalog will provide me plenty of listening pleasure when I dive into it!
The new Yam Haus single is sooooooooooo good and a perfect song to round out this playlist.

There you go. That’s a small bit of what I’ve listened and added to my Liked Songs playlist this week. Any hidden gems that you’ll be adding to your own playlists? I’d love to know.
This was a lovely listen over all. I really enjoyed the Pom Pom Squad track.
