Sharing a few new additions to my ever-growing master playlist!
This started as a Two For Tuesday post, but there were too many single songs that I wanted to feature, so I figured I could wait a day and share ten singles that have recently grabbed my ear.
I’m also MOSTLY over my cold. Hooray. Except for the chapped skin around my nose and mouth. OUCH. Winter, why are you so cruel to me!
Let’s get to the listening, shall we?
New Listens With The Comfort of Nostalgia
There’s a look/listen backward or nostalgic vibe to many of the newest additions to my master playlist. There’s a garage and grungy guitar licks mixed with dreamy, shoegaze vocals. Synth sounds caught my ear, delivering a new wave vibe. Country vibes mix with plain speaking in a story song. And there’s plenty of power pop energy, too.
I, like many avid listeners, enjoy a frame of reference when I listen. I like it when I hear an influence or vibe. It makes the connection with the song much deeper than a simple, “I liked it.” Nostalgia drives so many things that we enjoy. So it makes sense than nostalgia fuels listens, too.
These ten songs all sparked nostalgic vibes, while remaining fresh and inspiring. It’s not an easy balance. I applaud artists who can take something that their listeners already found appealing, adding something new and/or different so the delivered product is both new and interesting, while still sparking comfort and recognition.
I could continue to ramble, or I could just let you listen and see if you get a nostalgic spark from this playlist.
The Playlist
There you go. A sampling of the new additions to my master playlist. I’m already compiling my 2025 additions list so I can more easily reflect on the best releases of the year come December. But, for now, we can simply enjoy what’s new to our lists, and more important what’s pleasing to our ears!
Let me know if any of these songs inspired you to dig a little deeper into an artist’s discography. I’m always thrilled to introduce a new artist to an avid listener and advocate of music discovery!
Any playlist with the Lemon Twigs is alright by me!
