Love that Tristan Dolce is getting some love here!

I *really* wanted to like Deeper Well--and to an extent, I did-- but it never really hit that next level for me the way some of Musgraves' earlier records have.

Tristan is great, but he got edged out this time around!

Harm’s Way, Still Nervous and Call A Doctor are all in my top 40. They are all bands I’ve seen live this year and I think that has a big effect on how I relate to an album. I saw Bad Nerves again on Saturday and they are definitely one of my favourite bands. I don’t think I like this album quite as much as the first but it’s a close run thing.

I hope a few of my Top 50 appeal to you, Lou. I have a good feeling about a few!

Interestingly, I also saw Sprints but I feel nowhere near as strongly about that album.

Weirdly that SPRINTS album as an entity didn't do it for me either, although I love plenty of the individual tracks 🤷🏻

Isn’t it funny when you like many of the individual songs on an album, but it still, as a whole, doesn’t quite fulfill its destiny?

What??? There was a new Blitzen Trapper record in 2024? How in the f*#! did I not know this? I must remedy this and play it immediately. Also happy to see Girl & Girl on here, as that just missed my top 20. I love the way it explores mental health and the medical industry in powerful and humorous ways.

I agree, Maillie. Some great tracks can be found on some of them, but to be honest, I heard very few albums in 2024 that held up from beginning to end. Moreover, I prefer vinyl, and I won't buy an album on vinyl unless it's way-worthy. I'm releasing my list of albums and singles next week before NY's Eve. Cheers.

Except for Kacey Musgraves and Vampire Weekend, none of these cracked my top 50 either. Musgraves was #1 for me.

I had to whittle down from nearly 200 contender albums. I'm sure I'll second guess myself. I'm still shuffling my Top 50. It's exhausting. LOL.
