I love today’s selection. There are a few here I now feel compelled to check out from your description. I enjoyed the Frank Turner album but it didn’t draw me back in for multiple listens, although it does have a lot of great tracks. I feel similarly about Cloud Cult despite I Am A Forcefield being one of my favourite tracks of the year. Kate Nash though! I LOVE that album! There is something so beautiful and tragic about all the songs while still managing to be upbeat and feisty. Ray makes me cry every single time I listen. It’s a top 3 selection for me this year. I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it tbh.

I'm always thrilled when at least one thing I share gets a nod of approval from you, Lou! I agree that Nash should have shown up on a lot more lists this year. That listen is ripe for discussion.

Let me know if any of the new listens sparks joy. I hope I wasn't waxing rhapsodic about nothing!

I also write another Substack called Radio Unfriendly. Not really sure why I decided to do 2 separate ones instead of just combining them. * shrugs *

What's really messed up is that, after writing out my list, I discovered a bunch of other albums that were released in 2024 that I really liked and might have made the list. * sigh *

Great selections. Glad to see the Liquid Mike love here! I had PBS No. 2 on my year-end list. Easy to listen to over and over again.

It's a fantastic repeat listen, and I'm thrilled to know I'm not the only one who thinks so!

FWIW, I felt the same way about Strut of Kings as you did about Triple Seven. I liked it (pretty much a given for a GBV record), but it didn't blow me out of the water. In the end it just wasn't enough, and I didn't want to add them just to have a GBV record on there.

On the plus side, if past is precedent, we should be seeing another record from the band anytime now. lol.

P.S. That system that came through your way last night was wild. Lots of second order effects at work this morning.

I think I wanted to like it, the Wishy album, because so many of my peers did. I'm still not sure if I liked it enough to add it. Peer approval still haunts me at my advanced age. LOL.

The lightning last night was nuts. The thunder never got too scary, but the sky was constantly lit up. Pixie, the dig, was having none of it.

Wonder what will stand out to you with tomorrow's ten?
