Good morning. Tuesday is here, along with another batch of Two For Tuesday recommendations for those looking to add to their music collection.
I believe that digital listeners are music collectors, too. When you curate and share playlists, it requires a collector mindset intent upon showcasing the collection, the songs in this instance, in all its glory. You don’t have to own massive vinyl or CD collections to be a collector. Not in my book.
Two Songs Each
This week’s playlist follows the soft loud dynamic as the playlist plays out. Three artists are on the softer side, with two adding the noise as needed for a change of pace.
The playlist launches with Jack R. Reilly and his lovely Aussie accent. I’ve obviously got an affinity for accented vocals, and Jack delivers. I love the softer delivery here. There are no strained vocal chords. Instead there’s a restrained strength and loveliness. He’s not a belter. He’s more of a talk-singer, which showcases that accent to best advantage. I love the storytelling of “Eyes Open.” It really takes you on a journey.
Things speed up a bit, and get just a little louder, with Crystal Tides. It’s still melodic with gorgeous vocals, but the increased pace will get you bouncing in your seat a little bit. We’ve also got some belting on the chorus, which is always appreciated. “The Middle” is not a cover, it’s a lovely anthemic listen that’s just waiting for an addition to your playlist of choice.
Goodall shows up mid-playlist. It’s more storytelling loveliness in a song about love and freedom on “Be Free.” This Tucson, AZ guitar guy is well worth the listen and deserves the more than his 5,700 monthly listeners. Let’s get on that!
We get loud again, REALLY loud, with SOAPBOX. These guys are crying out from their soapbox. “Facist Bob” is a pointed and poignant call to defeat the defeatism of facism. If you’re a fan of politics in songs, this is right up your street. Clocking in at just under two minutes, it’s a banger from start to finish.
The list rounds out with Chime School. I have this weird feeling I’ve shared them on another playlist, but I can’t seem to verify that right now. They’re worth the listen even if they’ve already been shared. The sound is jangly ‘80s guitar vibe and plaintive, but passionate, vocals that let the jangle shine. “Wandering Song” rounds out the playlist with a bit of nostalgia.

There you go. Five artists and ten songs. Did you find something new to add to one of your playlists? Which artist’s discography will you be diving into later today? I love hearing from you and your comments always make my day!
Random Quick takes as I listen through
Jack R. Ryder --- I really like him as a vocalist, a lot of emotional range. I'd be interested to hear him do an acoustic set.
Crystal Tides --- Detonate was really good; classic young adult "what the hell am I doing? " vibes
SOAPBOX -- I really liked The Fear. It was more metallic thrash than Fascist Bob which was straight up punk. Interesting combo.
Chime School - classic 90s "alternative" vibe on Wandering Song. This could be on the soundtrack of a movie about a young guy who works as a contractor so he travels to a new city every few months. Then one day the adorable but clumsy girl spills her Pumpkin Spice Latte on his laptop . . .
Crystal Tides would be on that soundtrack too for the middle part when he thinks he blew it with Pumpkin Spice after the drunk texting incident.
Re: collecting. Every streaming app gives you a 'My Library' space for exactly that reason.
I love what I've heard of SOAPBOX. "Yer Dad" is fantastic! Will check out the rest later!
