Same. My favorite was when she was vacuuming! LOL.
Dolly has so many delightful songs. If you haven't dug a little deeper in a while, I strongly suggest you put it on you to-do list. I still find new delights all these years later!
It’s impossible to not love Dolly Parton. On top of being a great songwriter, she has personality in abundance and never a shred of ego about her.
My father loves Elvis as much as your mother loved Dolly. He told me the story about the time Col. Tom Parker approached her about wanting Elvis to record a version of ‘I Will Always Love You’. The stipulation was that Dolly would’ve had to surrender all publishing rights of the song which she refused.
Years later (as we all know) Whitney knocked it out of the stratosphere w/ her version of it. Dolly said she made enough money to buy Graceland w/ the royalties she made off of her version. Amazing business sense to boot!
Mallie!!!! This playlist is pure joy ❤️ My earliest memories of music are my grandad’s country 8-tracks which would soundtrack Sunday lunches. Kenny and Dolly are also my favourites although Kenny Rogers always comes first due to the “Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town” cassette that my mum used to play on repeat, seemingly for years.
My favourite Dolly track is definitely “Here You Come Again” but I would also recommend “Potential New Boyfriend” as it always makes me laugh with its barefaced cheek!
Lou! I knew there was a reason we connected so immediately. LOL. "Potential New Boyfriend" is on my liked list, but didn't quite make the ten song cut. It was hard to drill down to these ten.
Thanks so much for sharing your memories with me, today. I'm feeling that mixture of sad and reflective, but also happy to look back fondly at the days spent listening to music with my Mom. She was a "Lou," too. Sandra Lou.
My mom loved The Bee Gees, The Beatles, and The Eagles. I remember playing those albums a lot when I was little. Later, it was Barry Manilow and Donna Summer. We listened to music a lot in our house. I am also one of five children 🥰
“Here You Come Again” might be my favorite Dolly song. It’s ear candy perfection.
And here’s to that ever present cigarette! On the phone, cooking, doing the crossword, I’m not sure my mom ever *wasn’t* smoking. lol.

I'm on it!
Herd Albert and The Tijuana Brass was really the only music my father shared with me. I still listen to them today.

Such a heartfelt and beautiful tribute to your mother. Love (and music) never die.
Thank you. I really apprecite you taking the time to comment.

“Travelling Man” is a new one to me. I love it!

Thanks for sharing, Kristin. Mom also liked the Eagles, Neil Diamond, and Jefferson Airplane. But country was her real musical leaning.
