Wow, I haven’t listened to Violent Femmes in WAY too long! I loved that debut back in the day, couldn’t get enough of it but then they somehow dropped off my musical radar.

Blister in the Sun feels so singular that it’s tough to imagine anyone covering it. I probably hadn’t thought of KT Tunstall in 15 years or so, didn’t know she was still making music. I liked her cover but the clement hall version is probably my favorite.

I’ll take a look at your Violent Femmes deep cut playlist as well, thanks for sharing that!

Blister In The Sun is actually the only Violent Femmes song I really know but I absolutely love it. I’m not sure that any of these covers really measure up tbh. I found the Vitamin String Quartet version the most interesting, I think. Thanks for sharing these, Mallie.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing show! I wish they did a show with an orchestra where I am living. I saw them a couple of times back in the 80s. I wish I was lucky enough to have seen them play on the Venice Boardwalk, where they first got their start, since I was living down there. But, alas,I did not see them on my few visits there.

Violent Femmes are such a unique band. it’s amazing, how much they did not sound like anything else happening during the early 80s. I look forward to hearing your playlist of covers of “Blister in the Sun.”

It was a fantastic show, Steve. And this old lady also loves that it was over by 9:30 PM. LOL. We were back home by 10:30. Which is a must on a school night.

Hard to beat the original, but I will say that the KT Tunstall version was a really cool surprise- that's not what I was expecting at all.

The KT Tunstall version rocks. Tough song to cover.
