Ohhhhh, I like this Kitty Wells original.

I had such a skewed musical upbringing that I didn't even know Social Distortion's version of Ring of Fire was a cover 🙄

Don't worry about it. I just realized the UB40's "Red Red Wine," was a cover. LOL!

The Social D version was the first one I heard, and I think I'm gonna stick with it as my fave. Love the Kitty Wells original, but I would have to be in the right mood to listen to it.

That's totally valid. I grew to love the original more and more over time.

I love a good cover version! These four are all so different and there’s something to like in all of them. I think Volbeat just edges it for me.

Same for me, Lou. There's just something extra in that one!

Love this idea! My friend group was just discussing covers last night at our weekly meet up!

I've got a few more on tap. They'll probably happen sporadically. Not every Monday!

Nice idea. And shows what a great melody this song has. The Emmylou version is beautiful and Volbeat have turned it into a Green Day style power-punk-pop gem!

I have a soft spot for the original. The Volbeat version just barely beats it. Kitty Wells deserves a lot more credit. She gets lost amidst all the Pasty Cline love. Thanks for chiming in.

She certainly does. I first came across her via Laura Cantrell’s album of Wells covers. She also does a cover of Making Believe but it is more faithful to the original so not as interesting in this context but still a good one.

For me, it's a tie between the Emmylou and the Social Distortion versions. Both are excellent for different reasons.

The Emmylou version is my least favorite. But I understand why others love it!
