Hi Mallie. Great to have you back! Some fab picks in your list. The Gaffa Tape Sandy album is one of my favourites of the year so far. I love Document but I’d actually forgotten Strange existed as a song so thank you for making me revisit that one.
There is nothing I like better than belting out a song in the car. My top picks would be Human Resources by We Are Scientists, OK by Black Honey, Don’t Look Back Into The Sun by The Libertines, Get On The Roof by Pet Needs, Checking Out by Divorce and Gloria by Laura Brannigan. So many candidates though!
Hey hey I agree threads is a great platform for finding new music I would love to link up with you on there but it seems as though I can’t hope we still cool 😎 Seamus o music
Mallie!! Hello, you :) I’ve been missing you here - I find your Substack so very enjoyable, and a good way to keep up with you, especially as my Threads timeline is so crowded and I miss so much from my favourite people because of it… ! So, I’m currently on a break from social media, but this doesn’t count as that, does it? Anyhow - ace ‘list, as usual; I’ll be belting it out in the car later today ;)
I definitely enjoyed Lisa’s challenge - it gave me an opportunity to explore my back catalog of ‘guilty pleasures that don’t make me feel guilty at all’, as those are the ones I’m most prone to belt. I also know all the lyrics by heart; I reckon they’re encoded in my DNA at this point ;) These were my contributions:
Interesting list Mallie, although I don't know all of the songs! Dream Police is a great choice. I tend to belt out whatever I'm into at the moment. Right now it's Midnight Ride by Orville Peck & Kyle Minogue. Also, Lost in Space by Foster the People. If I'm feeling nostalgic it could be I Feel the Earth Move by Carole King or You're So Vain by Carly Simon. This list could go on and on!

Lou. I missed you. Happy to be back.
I'm making a mini playlist of all of your belters to see if they work for me the same way they work for you.
Welcome back! Looking forward to listening to this playlist and all your future ones!
Thanks, Matt!

Steve!!! I've missed you.
My hiatus here is over, so I hope we keep in touch wherever we cross paths.
I'll add your playlist to my listens for this week.
Haha!! Mallie, absolutely no need to - these are all things you’ve heard a zillion times before… ;)
Be well and happy, ok? I’ll probably be back on threads in a little while, but for now I’ll keep up with you here <3
A Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley is a VERY cathartic car belter.
I know the song, but it's been a while. Thanks for the reminder!

Keeping my list to just 20 was the hardest part, Dan. And Orville Peck is one of my latest listening obsessions.
Yes! Peck is a pretty interesting guy with some great songs!
Nice to see you back Mallie!
My favorite car belting song, for a combination of musical and personal reasons, is Like A Rolling Stone.
Born to Run would be a close second.
Seven Turns by The Allman Brothers Band a close third.
All of them for a combination of musical and personal reasons.
I'm thrilled to be back.
I should have had some Springsteen on my belter list. I may have to make a part two!
